Minister Bandula Gunawardene, Cabinet Spokesperson addressing the cabinet decisions meeting held today (30), said that steps will be taken to digitalize the public transportation system in the country.
He further stated the hassle of finding the balance payment in coins causes inconvenience to both the conductors and passengers. Also in other countries, there are no conductors in buses. Whereas the payment is made by a card system, he noted.
By now, twelve institutions have already submitted their proposals for the project.
