The man arrested for the murder of a 24-year university student at Colombo Race Course has been ordered to be remanded till January 30.
The suspect was arrested by Wellampitiya police and produced before Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court today. The suspect is also a university student.
Police said the woman died on the spot from stab injuries. Initial investigations have revealed the deceased was in a romantic relationship with the suspect and they have arrived at the Race Course on the fateful day to mutually end the relationship.
Police have also recovered the knife used to stab the victim inside a bag inside the Wellampitiya house where the suspect lived.
