A racket of placing fake advertisements claiming the availability of Apple iPhones for sale and robbing the prospective buyers was busted by the Police in Narammala of the Kurunegala district.
A raid was conducted by the Police after they were alerted by a group of prospective buyers who felt suspicious about the claim made in the advertisement.
A group from Ruwanwella had sought the help of the police. The group had visited the location and had been attacked by the persons claiming to be selling phones.
The Police had opened fire at the group involved in the attack killing one person while two others had escaped from the scene.
Investigations have revealed that the group had placed similar advertisements and were involved in robbing the prospective buyers.

Very good move, yet there are so many Ads claming to sell iPhones at a much lower price than the market price. They also ask to deposit 50% or threten that the item might get sold. DO NOT GET CAUGHT.
