The essential service workers who are scheduled to retire at the age of 60 on December 31, 2022, will be rehired by Sri Lanka Railways on a contract basis.
The President's Secretary has instructed Sri Lanka Railways to contact their retirees for assistance if needed.
As a result, Sri Lanka Railways announced in a notice that the Public Service Commission had authorized the contract-based reemployment of retried essential workers.
In the meantime, K.A.U. Konthasinghe, president of the Railway Engine Drivers Union, claimed that the railway services are now lacking in office personnel.
