Rains accompanied by strong winds are likely to occur in Western,Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kandy, Nuwaraeliya, Galle and Matara districts today (26). The Meteorology Department said fairly strong winds about 40-45 kmph can be expected in the Western slopes of the Central hills, North Central province and in Puttalam, Hambantota and Trincomalee districts. “There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. Public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by winds and lightning,” the Department said.
