Reduction of Cost of Living, creating 100,000 jobs for youth immediately, reduction of taxes, promoting exports and continuity of the economic reforms, are among the highlights of the manifesto of President Ranil Wickremesinghe contesting the upcoming Presidential election as an independent candidate.
President Wickremesinghe’s manifesto was launched today in Colombo with the attendance of cabinet ministers, professionals, artist and youth groups among others.
He said he was not launching a traditional manifesto, but a programme with his projects to be implemented in the next five years of which the implementation will commence immediately.
He said that the economic reforms should be continued without an interruption and the exports should be increased and therefore other candidates need to explain themselves how do they hope to continue with the IMF programme.
The manifesto among other proposals assures of agricultural modernasation programmes, digiliasation plans, loans for youth to follow technical courses, continuity of the Uruamaya programme, lands for the estate sector workers, empowering women etc.
