United National Party (UNP) leader Ranil Wickremesinghe has urged the government to appoint a committee consisting of heath experts to handle the current COVID-19 situation.
Mr Wickremesinghe making a statement on the situation said the National Operation Center for the Prevention of Covid-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) does not have the capacity to deal with the situation.
He blamed the Centre for the current situation where there been an increase in the number of cases and called to disband it.
He said the vaccine should be given to persons more than 12 years and the government needs to explain the vaccine plan.
Mr Wickremesinghe said that medical experts have called for a lockdown, but the government has so far failed to give a explanation as to why the decision was not being taken.
