Actor turned politician Ranjan Ramannayake is set to walk out of jail tomorrow on a presidential pardon.
A Prison official said that all preparations were underway to release him after 12.00 and they were awaiting the final clearance of the documents.
However, his one time Parliament colleague Harin Fernando, on a twitter message said the release may be on Friday or on Monday.
Mr Ramanayake has not made it clear about his political plans in the future.
The last time he was brought to courts, journalists questioned him about his plans. He responded “I will be on the peoples side”.
Mr Ramanayake was sentenced for 04 years of rigorous imprisonment after being convicted for contempt of court.
The sentence was given by a three-judge bench comprising Justices Sisira Abrew, Vijith Malalgoda and Preethi Padman Surasena.
The Attorney General filed the case based on a complaint filed in the Supreme Court by Ven. Magalkande Sudantha Thero and retired Air Force officer Sunil Perera.
