The Resolution for the implementation of the arrangement under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for Sri Lanka was passed by a majority of 95 votes a short while ago with 120 voting in favour and 25 voting against.
The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) voted for the motion and were joined by several MPs in the opposition.
The National People's Power (NPP), parties representing the Freedom People's Alliance (FPA) and the Uththara Lanka Sabhagaya voted against the motion.
MPs from the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) were not present in the chamber when the vote was taken. However, SJB MP A.H.M Fowzie was present and chose to vote for the motion. Other opposition MPs who voted for the motion included Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, John Seneviratne, Dr. Sudarshani Fernandopulle and Duminda Dissanayake.
The debate on the motion was held in Parliament over three days on 26th 27th and 28th.
