Colombo Fort Magistrate Court, with the instructions of the Attorney General today acquitted Parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen from the charges filed against him under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) over the Easter Sunday coordinated terror attack.
The order was issued by Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage when the Magisterial inquiry related to the incident was taken up in the court.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) had arrested Mr. Bathiudeen on April 21, 2021 for interrogation regarding the series of attacks on Easter Sunday, 2019. Later, he was released on bail.
