The Colombo Fort Magistrate's court today further remanded MP Rishad Bathiudeen who was arrested over Easter Sunday attacks till September 07.
Last week he was also named as the fifth suspect in the case of the death of a 16-year-old domestic worker at his residence. His wife and three others were today (23) further remanded until September 6.
Earlier Prisons Department opened an inquiry over a complaint from a doctor at the Prisons that former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen had threatened him recently.
An Assistant Superintendent of Prisons has been assigned to probe the incident, Prisons Commissioner Chandna Ekanayake told a news conference. This follows a complaint lodged by the doctor to the Borella police that the MP had threatened him after a dispute trying to visit the doctor out of his turn.
The Colombo Crimes Division had already opened an inquiry into the incident. The CCD has recorded a statement from the doctor and the MP
