A stock of 200 million illegally imported cigarettes has been destroyed by Sri Lanka Customs at a storage yard in Kerawalapitiya.
State Minister for Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya mentioned the value of the stock is estimated to be around Rs. 15 billion.
The stock of cigarettes destroyed was expropriated by Sri Lanka Customs in a number of instances since 2021.
