Senior Deputy Inspector General (SDIG) of the Western Province Deshabandu Thennakoon has been injured following an assault by a group of persons near Beira Lake.
Footage of the incident circulating on social media show a group of persons surrounding the SDIG and later assaulting him.
The SDIG's vehicle was also damaged during the attack.
