The Samagi Jana Balawegaya today called the public not be carried away a purported dispute between Minister Wimal Weerawansa and a section of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) members.
SJB Kurunegala district MP Nalin Bandara told a news conference that the dispute has been created inorder to mislead the public by distracting them on burning issues such as the cost of living.
He said the ‘Dhammika Peniya’ prepared by Dhammika Bandara as a cure for COVID was another attempt to distract the public.
His comments came as Minister Weerawansa initially claimed that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa should made the leader of the SLPP .
Several SLPP members criticized Mr Weerawansa for calling for the appointment of President Rajapaksa as SLPP leader saying that he was from a minor party and had no right to speak about the leadership.
But Mr Weerawansa hit back saying he has the right to speak about any party.
