The General Secretary of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Ranjith Madduma Bandara has filed a contempt of court charge before Supreme Court against Finance Ministry Secretary Mahinda Siriwardena related to the Local Government election funding.
The case has been filed for not complying with a Supreme court order not to withold funds allocated through the Budget for the local polls.
Meanwhile, National People's Power (NPP) MP Vijitha Herath has also filed a contempt of court charge in the Supreme Court against the Treasury Secretary over the same issue.
