Sri Lanka Army (SLA) is expected to produce 3600 metric tons of compost fertilizer, required for the Maha Season 2021 in which nearly 1000 metric tons have already been produced, Army said.
According to the SLA sources, with a view to augment the government's organic fertilizer production process, the Security Force Headquarters-East troops are producing organic fertilizer within their several processing units following the directives of SLA’s Directorate of Agriculture and Livestock.
This programme is carried out in line with the Army’s green drive 'Thuru Mithuru Nawa Ratak' concept, initiated by the Army Commander Gen. Shavendra Silva, the SLA also said.
