The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has suspended the party membership of its General Secretary Parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekara.
In a letter to Mr. Jayasekara, chairman of SLFP Maitripala Sirisena said a disciplinary inquiry would be conducted against him for violating the party’s constitution and that disciplinary charges would be sent within 14 days time.
The letter states that Jayasekara cannot serve as the party’s General Secretary.
Sarath Ekanayake has been appointed as the acting General Secretary.
