The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CB) has extended until further notice a scheme where Sri Lankans working abroad were provided an incentive of Rs. 10 per US dollar for worker remittances.
The CB in a statement on Monday said this scheme - first announced for the month of December and extended to end January 2022 - has been extended until further notice as it had drawn a good response from workers stationed abroad.
The CB said that banks are also required to sell to the banking regulator, on a weekly basis, 25 per cent of foreign currency held by them on behalf of the public.
