SSP interdicted over Cannabis case

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Moneragala Sisila Kumara has been interdicted after he was arrested over an incident where 650 plants of cannabis was found at his official residence, Police spokesman said.

The interdiction has taken place on a directive from the Inspector General of Police subject to confirmation from the National Police Commission.

In a related development the Officer in Charge (OIC) of the Ethimale Police Station has been arrested.

The OIC was arrested over the investigation related to SSP Kumara who has been arrested.
