Special Task Force (STF) officers from the Kalubowila STF camp have arrested a suspect with a stock of heroin, firearms and ammunition during a raid.
The STF raid was conducted in Kalubowila last evening (5). Officers recovered 155 grams of heroin, a foreign manufactured 12-bore shotgun, a locally manufactured pistol, 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition, five rounds of T56 ammunition, an electronic scale and 12, 000 wrappers used to wrap heroin were recovered from the possession of the arrested suspect.
The 70-year-old suspect is a resident of Dehiwala. Kohuwala Police are investigating.
The United States has told Sri Lanka that the disposition of the Iranian naval vessel IRIS Bushehr and its crew is a matter for Colombo to resolve under its own laws and international obligations, while signalling it is in active talks with Sri Lanka to contain Iran’s threat to US interests.
