Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam said a decision on the conduct of Local Government elections will depend on the availability of funds to conduct the polls.
He said that the Finance Ministry will have to give its decision whether funding was available as the cost for an election has gone up.
He said, if the local elections were delay they would wait for a Parliamentary election.
“We may even have an alliance with the UNP to contest a future election”, he said.
He said though the Policies of the two parties were different they could reach a common agreement for a future election.
