A Sri Lankan passenger returning from Singapore has been arrested for assaulting two Immigration officials at the Bandaranaike International Airport last night, Police said.
The 34 year old passenger was employed as a sailor on a commercial ship and is a resident from Peradeniya.
He was reported to be under the influence of liquor and entered into an argument with the Immigration officials.
He is due to be produced in the Negombo Magistrate courts today.

The United States has told Sri Lanka that the disposition of the Iranian naval vessel IRIS Bushehr and its crew is a matter for Colombo to resolve under its own laws and international obligations, while signalling it is in active talks with Sri Lanka to contain Iran’s threat to US interests.
The government today granted permission for an Iranian warship with 208 on board to enter the country.
