Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa has called the Government to reconsider its decision to leave out professional photography studios in providing photographs for passports.
He said some 7,000 studios have been affected with the introduction of the new system.
The change has been introduced with the introduction of a new method of obtaining passports. Earlier the studios provided the photographs for passports.
The All Ceylon Professional Photo Studio Owners Association has said that this method has become a problem in obtaining photographs under the old method and it is blocking their sources of income.
Representatives of 7000 professional studio owners recently met the opposition leader Premadasa and said that under the new method of obtaining passports, the method used to obtain photos from photo studios has been lost.
