The main Opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is to launch a mass protest in Colombo this afternoon (15).
Crowds are expected to arrive in the city from various parts of the country. The protest will be led by Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa.
The crowds have been asked to gather near the Opposition Leader's Office located at Sir Marcus Fernando Mawatha at 2.00pm.
The party has been keeping the locations where supporters are gathering a closely guarded secret up until this morning over fears that police will obtain court orders to prohibit gatherings at the locations. SJB Vice Chairman and MP Harin Fernando posted a message on social media a short while ago that one protest march will commence from opposite the Colombo Public Library at 1.00pm and the other will commence from opposite the Maligawatta Police Station at the same time.
The protest is being organised against the Government mainly focusing on the rising cost of living, fuel, gas and power shortages and the lack of essential items.
