All Government schools within the Nuwara Eliya and Hatton Education Zones will be closed tomorrow and the day after (July 6 and 7) due to adverse weather conditions, the Zonal Directors said.
Daily wage earners in Hatton and Nuwara Eliya struggled to work amidst torrential rain which continues for the second consecutive day today.
On Tuesday, Hatton and surrounding areas received rainfall of about 100 mm and roads were inundated with rainwater.
Water levels at Castlereigh has increased and is presently 28 feet below spill level, an Irrigation official said.
He said Wimalasurendra reservoir has reached spill level while two sluice gates in Laxapana was opened.
Schools were closed in Hatton today as a result of the inclement weather.
