All 251 policemen and Sri Lanka Army soldiers deployed to protect the Mihintale sacred area will be withdrawn today, State Minister of Defence Pramitha Bandara Tennakoon told Parliament.
This follows a complaint by the Chief incumbent who said two soldiers who were not officially assigned were found.
He expressed doubts that may be a conspiracy to assassinate him.
But the State Minister denied the claim and said they were deployed for intelligence duties and that was not unusual.
