Police are investigating the murder of a 56-year-old man who had been hacked to death in Katugasthota.
The victim's body was recovered this morning near his residence in Manikkumbura, Adipara. He had been living at home by himself as his wife is abroad. Police said he had been hacked to death by a security guard from a private security firm that had been hired to guard the victim's residence.
The victim died on the spot and a motive for the murder is yet to be established. Police have arrested the 33-year-old security guard, a resident of Muruthalawa, Peradeniya in connection with the killing. The weapon used to commit the murder has also been recovered by police. Katugasthota Police are investigating.
