Long queues were seen in front of post offices and sub-post offices after it was announced that allowances and pensions for the month of August will be paid today (1) and tomorrow (2).
Postmaster General Ranjith Ariyarantne said all post offices and sub-post offices in the country will open on September 1 and 2 to pay senior citizen allowances, farmers’ and fisheries pension and other allowances for August.
