All taxpayers have been informed to settle their final income tax payments for the Year of Assessment 2023/2024 by today, the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) said.
According to a notice issued by IRD, penalties or interest charges will be imposed, as per the laws, against those who fail or delay making their income tax payments.
The IRD has also urged taxpayers with arrears to settle them on or before 30 October 2024.
Legal action will be initiated against those who fail to settle their outstanding payments by the said date, the IRD warned. The IRD added that further inquiries can be made via the hotline 1944.

The Supreme Court has suspended the payment of Rs. 150 million to a construction company that was arranged unlawfully, allegedly under the instruction of Minister Bandula Gunawardhana.
