A severe lightning warning has been issued by the Department of Meteorology effective until Wednesday (22.9.2021) 07.30 am.
The Department said thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and Eastern provinces and in the Polonnaruwa district.
The possibility of experiencing localised strong winds also exists, the Department said.
Customs have detected 228 mobile phones and tabs valued at over Rs 30 million left behind in the duty free shopping complex at the Banaranaike International Airport today, Customs officials said.
