Showers or thunder showers are likely to be experienced in several places over most parts of the country during the day and night, the Department of Meteorology says.
Fairly heavy showers above 75mm are likely to occur at some places in Central and Sabaragamuwa, Southern, and North-central provinces and in Trincomalee, Vavuniya and Mullaitivu districts.
In the meantime, the coastal areas from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle will experience showers or thundershowers in the morning.
Showers or thunder showers will crop up at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Matara via Puttalam, Colombo and Galle and in the sea areas off the coast extending from Pottuvil to Trincomalee via Batticaloa.
Winds will be south-easterly to south-westerly and may strike at 20-30 KMPH.
The maritime zones around the island will remain moderate although, temporary strong gusts of wind and very turbulent waters may turn up during thundershowers transiently.
