S.P. Tao (Tao Shing Pee) Founder, Chairman and Director of Overseas Realty (Ceylon) PLC, a pioneer investor in Sri Lanka and architect of the World Trade Centre followed by the Havelock City development, passed away on August 24 at the age of 105, his company announced on Thursday, saying he died in Nanjing, China.
Mr. Tao was the Founder and Chairman of the Shing Kwan Group, Singapore; Founder and Patron of Jiangsu Tao Shing Pee Education Foundation; Honorary Citizen of Nanjing, and Honorary President of Jiangsu Charity Foundation.
“Given the pandemic and at the request of the Mr. Tao’s family members, his funeral service was kept small and private,” the company said.
