A team of officials from SINOPEC China and other technical experts visited Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekara yesterday to discuss the agreement and commencement of retail fuel sales distribution services.
It was decided to sign the agreement by mid-May and commence the operations in 45 days after signing the agreement.
Officials from the Ministry of Power and Energy, Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Board of Investments, Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, and Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminal participated in this meeting.
According to reports, they would be given licences with a 20-year validity period to import, store, and distribute fuel in Sri Lanka, as well as 150 CPC fuel stations under the scheme.
