Six students of the Peradeniya University have been arrested in connection with the assault on the university's former Vice-Chancellor Prof. Athula Senaratne and his son.
The six suspects were arrested after surrendering to the Peradeniya Police last night (12).
The arrested suspects are between 23 and 25 years of age and are residents of Nittambuwa, Sandalangala, Girithale, Matale, Henagamuwa and Galagamwattha.
Police Media Unit said six other suspects have also been identified in connection with the assault that took place on the night of December 10 and investigations are ongoing to arrest them.
