The conditions of the South-West monsoon are gradually establishing across the country, the Meteorological Department said today.
Accordingly, Showers or thunder showers are expected in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as the Galle and Matara districts. Showers of up to 100 mm may occur in parts of Sabaragamuwa Province, including Galle, Matara, and Kalutara districts.
Several showers will fall in the North-Western province.
Several regions in Uva and Central provinces, also Ampara and Batticaloa districts, will see showers or thunder showers during the evening or night.
Strong winds of (40-45) kmph are forecast at times in the Northern and North-Central provinces, and even in the districts of Hambantota, Puttalam, and Trincomalee.
They also requested the public to take adequate measures to minimize the damages which could be caused by the inclement weather conditions.
