President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has convened a special Cabinet meeting this evening to discuss the country's fuel and power crisis.
The crisis was discussed at length during yesterday's Cabinet meeting held virtually. However, today's Cabinet meeting at the Presidential Secretariat will be held physically and all Cabinet Ministers have been instructed to attend.
The country's crippling foreign exchange crisis has severely affected both the fuel and electricity sectors. There is a severe shortage of fuel in some areas while the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka granted permission to the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to impose power cuts lasting between two to three hours on a daily basis.
