Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) met with the Defence Advisor of the Indian High Commission, Captain Anand Mukundan, and Assistant Defence Advisor Lieutenant Colonel Mandeep Singh Negi yesterday at the Deputy Minister’s office in Colombo.
Captain Mukundan extended an official invitation for the Deputy Minister to attend India’s 76th Republic Day celebrations on January 26. The meeting also addressed opportunities to enhance bilateral defence cooperation, focusing on shared priorities such as military collaboration and anti-narcotic operations.
Major General Jayasekara commended India’s support in anti-narcotics initiatives and emphasized the importance of strong people-to-people ties between the two nations. Discussions reaffirmed the long-standing defence partnership and mutual commitment to addressing regional security challenges.
