Sri Lanka has joined the world in mourning the death Queen Elizabeth II with a directive from the Ministry of Public Administration to fly the national flag at half-mast at all state buildings from tomorrow.
A period of national mourning is to be announced.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe offered his condolences shortly after the death was announced
'Deepest condolences to the Royal Family, Government & people of the UK on the passing of HM Queen Elizabeth II Head of the Commonwealth & Queen of Ceylon 1952-72", the President said.

A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
