Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath, who is currently in Saudi Arabia to attend the 26th UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) General Assembly in Riyadh, met with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan today.
In a post on his X account, Mr. Herath said the two ministers discussed "ways and means to further consolidate our bilateral political and economic cooperation."

"I had a productive bilateral meeting with HH Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia today during my visit to Saudi Arabia to attend the 26th UNWTO General Assembly in Riyadh.
We discussed ways and means to further consolidate our bilateral political and economic cooperation.
I briefed on Sri Lanka’s current investment friendly environment and invited Saudi private sector to utilize the investment opportunities unfolding in the country in various sectors.
I also highlighted the first ever Business Council that is going to be established between the Federations of Chambers of both countries during my visit which would serve as a catalyst to enhance private sector interaction between the two countries.
While commending Saudi Arabia’s leading role on finding a lasting solution to the Palestine issue, I reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s traditional and unwavering support to the Palestine cause.
During my meeting, Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs officially handed over the commemorative stamps issued by the Saudi Post to mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and Saudi Arabia."
