Civil rights activist and university students today held a protest opposite the Bangladesh High Commission in Colombo against what they called repression of students who have been protesting in Dhaka.
The protest was organized to show solidarity with the students of Bangladesh.
They called the international community to stand against the student killings.
The protestors demanded an immediate end to the Bangladeshi government's alleged repression of students protesting the job quota system.
The Bangladeshi government has imposed a curfew to control the situation while telecom services and television services remain disrupted.
The Bangladesh Supreme Court scrapped amended the quotas for government jobs that sparked protests to control the situation.
