Tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka rose by 144.3 per cent to 896,884 in January-April 2025 from 784,651 in the same period last year, according to the Central Bank’s latest data.
Earnings from this sector rose by 10 per cent to US$1,379 billion in the four months to April 2025 from $1,251.6 billion in the same 2024 period.
Workers' remittances amounted to US$ 2,460.5 billion in January-April 2025 from $2,060 billion in the same 2024 period.
Data showed that gross official forex reserves were provisionally estimated at $6,326 million as at end April 2025.
The year-to-date depreciation of te Sri Lanka rupee against the US dollar was 2.2 per cent as of May 9, 2025.
