News

In a last ditch attempt towards economic damage control, the Government will be seeking advice from the country’s billionaire businessmen on reviving the fiscal downturn as a result of COVID-19 and improper planning.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has convened this extraordinary meeting today (Monday 21)  with top business tycoons  to seek their views and suggestions to overcome the present economic crisis triggered by the dollar scarcity and inconsistent planning and implementation, informed sources said.

Top 20 business leaders in the country including Dhammika Perera, Ishara Nanayakkara and Sumal Perera are expected to attend this meeting to be held at the Presidential Secretariat today.

According to informed sources, an economic development plan, damage control measures, project planning and implementation and ways and means to attract foreign direct investments will be discussed at this meeting.

These business leaders have been requested to submit their proposals on short medium and long term plans to resurrect the economy. (Bandula)
