Arrangements are underway to hold the 37th Asia-Pacific Conference of the United Nations World Food and Agriculture Organization (UNFAO) from tomorrow (Feb 19) to February 22.
Agriculture ministers of 42 countries belonging to this region are due in Sri Lanka and participate in this conference.
Also, on February 18, the agriculture ministers of Bangladesh, Iran, Japan, Maldives, China, Bhutan, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines are also going to come to this country and participate in this conference.
Agriculture Minister of Tonga Sione Siale Fohe was the first to arrive on Friday followed by several others. The delegations with the Agriculture Ministers of Palau, Vanuatu, Fiji, Nepal also arrived at the Katunayake Airport on Friday night.
The delegations with the Ministers of Agriculture of Samoa and Marshall Island States also arrived at Katunayake Airport’s special guest room and Minister of State for Livestock Mr. DB Herath was present to welcome them.
Several more are due today.
