State Minister of Finance Ajith Nivard Cabraal has denied that his son's wedding was due to take place today (16).
Minister Cabraal speaking on a television interview on Ada Derana said though social media had been reporting that the ban on weddings were coming into effect on Tuesday in view of his son's wedding, it was completely misleading.
"I have two sons and both of them are married. Therefore I have no such wedding today”, he said.
He said that he was not even taking part in any wedding ceremony today. "Not even any of my relatives are getting married today".
Social media, since last week has been speculating that a lockdown or curfew was being delayed due to the minister's son's wedding.
