A number of provincial and state-level public service trade unions plan to go on nationwide strike tomorrow (October 30) spanning multiple requests.
The Trade Union Collective Coordinator Chandana Sooriyaarachchi said that the strike is scheduled to commence tomorrow at 12:00 pm.
According to Mr. Sooriyaarachchi, Tomorrow’s strike action is expected to include participation from Development Officers, Management Service Officers, Grama Niladhari Officers, Samurdhi Officers, Office Services and other Provincial Public Service Sector Personnel.
The demands include a Rs. 20,000 allowance or pay raise through 2024 budget.
Moreover, The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) is also planning to launch a strike next week, according to the GMOA Media Secretary Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe.
