State university non-academic staff members are set to stage a two-day token strike to call for better pay and working conditions, citing pay stagnation since 2019.
According to Dhammika S. Priyantha, Co-President of University Trade Union Joint Committee, the strike will take place tomorrow (Feb. 28) and February 29.
This collective action underscores the pressing need for recognition and fair treatment, coming after years of unmet expectations and talks with the Government.
The committee further warned of the continuation of their trade union action if the relevant authorities do not pay heed to their existing issues within a week.
