Summons have been issued by the Tissamaharama Magistrate Court on four persons including an environmentalist and two photographers who got off a jeep and roamed inside the Yala National Park, without permission.
However, the two drivers of the two jeeps in which the suspects were traveling were arrested by wildlife officers for aiding and abetting this illegal act and presented to the Magistrate of Tissamaharama on May 08 under Section 6-1-C of the Wildlife and Vegetation Protection Ordinance.
The two vehicles were also detained.
The court granted bail of Rs. 500,000 each on the drivers and ordered that the two vehicles be released on a bond of Rs. 100,000.
The next hearing has been fixed for September 1.
Meanwhile, the other four suspects have been identified as residents of Jayawardenepura Kotte, Ratmalana, Monaragala and Piliyandala areas.
