Five suspects who dispensed drugs without medical prescriptions and without pharmacists have been arrested, the Seeduwa Police said today (December 21).
The Seeduwa Police, with the support of the Gampaha public health inspectors and Seeduwa medical officers, yesterday raided the drug stores in the police domain.
They also raided drug stores located near schools, which had dispensed drugs without medical prescriptions and without pharmacists.
Accordingly, five suspects, aged 23, 29, 32, 53 and 65 years old and residents of Bandarawela, Welisara, Divulapitiya and Negombo, were arrested while in possession of 16,000 drug pills.
The police are conducting further investigations.
