Twenty five suspects, arrested for narcotic related offences in the Angulana police area were taken through a Poya programme including a Bana preaching ceremony before being produced in courts.
The suspects were taken into custody during a roundup by the Police overnight.
Some of them were arrested with drugs and others were taken in for trafficking narcotics.
Ven Ramalane Rahula thera of the Bodhirukkaramaya temple in the area conducted Bana for the suspects with the focus on the effects of taking narcotics and religious ways of avoiding such habits.
Earlier in the day the suspects were given the ‘heel dana’.
The Angulana police had organised the event.
They were due to be produced in Courts later in the day.
