Indian authorities in Tamil Nadu seized golden bars weighing 14.8Kg that were smuggled from Sri Lanka to India via Palk Straits following a tip-off given to officials of the Directorate of Revenue attached to Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu branch yesterday, according to Indian reports.
The officials carried out a search operation near Kalmankundu beach, Keezkarai of Ramanathapuram district, Tamil Nadu yesterday. One suspect was taken into custody over the incident. (Joseph Nayan)
